What is the difference between FAW and EFAW?

The 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) course is a comprehensive training covering a wide range of injuries and medical conditions, suitable for higher-risk workplaces like construction sites or factories.
The 1-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course focuses on essential life-saving skills and is more suited to lower-risk environments such as offices or shops. Employers should choose based on the level of risk in their workplace and the responsibilities of the first aider.

What's the difference between regulated and non-regulated courses?

In the UK, regulated first aid courses are accredited and meet specific standards set by awarding bodies, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines. These are ideal for employers needing to fulfill legal obligations for workplace safety (i.e. construction, factories and high risk environments)
Non-regulated courses are more common and still need to comply with HSE guidelines but are not audited and regulated by a formal body. These types of courses can be useful for lower risk environments as they offer more flexibility in content and delivery; they may suit community groups, individuals, or organisations seeking broader first aid skills. These courses still provide certification of competency and awareness. 
Choosing between regulated and non-regulated depends on the legal requirements of your employer or specific industry as well as the intended use of the training.

Do I receive a certificate after completing the course?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Providing you have successfully completed the course you will receive a certificate by email. Printed certificates can be provided at an extra cost.

How long is the certificate valid for?

The validity of the certificate depends on the course and can be found on our Courses page. However most FAW courses need to be renewed within 3 years of the certificate being issued.
